Résumé

The morgue. On a slab, the body of a footballer covered in a sheet. In the time equivalent to a match - 90 minutes and one minute extra time - the following characters will file past: the members of the dead man's family, the pathologist, and the dead man himself. In a series of dramatic monologues, they will bring to life a society where violence is part of everyday life, where mass sport and the media have seized power.

Regard du traducteur

- A funny play. The overall tone: an explosive mixture of horror and laughter, stamped with black humour. A ruthless portrait of Venezuelan reality: violence, corruption, poverty, and intolerance. The rhythm is lively, often hectic, and is maintained right up to the final coup de théâtre which reveals the extent to which the 'goal' to be reached (scored ?) was pathetic and pointless.

- The originality of the structure enables a presentation of the different aspects of Venezuelan society today.

Seven characters. seven portraits.

The play, written for seven actors (five men, two women), was performed in Venezuela, in a production directed by the author, by just one actor.

Gustavo Ott was born in Venezuela in 1963. He is as well playwright (30 plays), as translator(from english (american) into spanish), journalist, director of a theater company. He has received several prices (USA, Hungary, Canada).
